We are announcing the deprecation of the VuePilot Player for Raspberry Pi devices running Debian 10 (Buster) operating system.
Why?
Debian 10 (Buster) is now considered an old-stable release, is a 32bit operating system and will longer be receiving updates from the Debian project in the near future. This means that the software running on your device will no longer be receiving security updates could considered a security risk.
Recent changes to our software pipeline tooling have also made it difficult to maintain compatibility with the older operating systems and we are unable to continue releasing updates for these devices.
A much newer image running Debian 12 64bit has been available on our website as the recommended image for new installations since mid last year and we encourage you to upgrade your devices to this version.
Impact
Your devices will continue to work as normal, there is no rush to update your devices immediately. However, you will no longer receive software updates for the VuePilot Player software running on your device.
The last version of the software that will be compatible with the Debian 10 devices will be version 2.4.3
We will continue to provide support for the older devices until August 1st 2024.
What Do I Need To Do?
Download the latest Raspberry Pi image from our website (Download here) and follow the instructions to reflash your device with the new image.
Be sure to deactivate your old devices first before reflashing them so you can reactivate your license on the newly flashed device.
How Can I Tell If I’m Affected?
